Obama Administration Seeks Stay on Immigration Order
The Obama Administration announced that they will seek to lift the court order that halted the implementation of the President’s Executive Action on Immigration. The Department of Justice will file no later than Monday to stay the order of Federal District Court Judge Hanen.
Judge Hanen issued an injunction earlier this week to halt parts of the Executive Action that would protect up to 5 million illegal immigrants from deportation. The judge ruled that the President does not have the legal authority to implement these new programs.
The Obama administration has previously stated they will also appeal the Judge’s ruling, a process that could take months.
